Rouge

You’re never going to believe how much I practically s t o l e this look for. Top, pants, AND shipping came out to $30.03. Seriously! I can’t make this up! I saw the top featured in an instagram post and watched for my LikedtoKnow.it email to arrive in my inbox like a hawk. I knew the silky satin material of the cold shoulder top would be so romantic for date nights and perfect to throw on for holiday dinners this winter. I followed the link and to my surprise  the top was on sale for $12! I was even more surprised when I saw on the side of the screen these pants for a whopping 80 cents more! You better believe I was doing a happy dance, almost frantically clicking to check-out in case the pieces were priced in error! Both the top & pants for under $13 a piece… talk about a deal!!

I don’t visit Kohls often, but after this purchase I am definitely going to keep my eye on the LC Lauren Conrad collection. I mean how cute is this dress?! And these oxblood velvet leggings would be so sassy for Christmas dinner – not to mention the elastic waist would be oh so perfect for going back for seconds! A lot of the pieces out there right now are in blush, burgundy and navy shades which all are on my love list. I’ve linked a few of my favorites below, most of which are under $50, and my outfit details! Happy savings!..I mean shopping!!

Overalls Afterall

How to style overalls

During our first year of dating J went home to Alabama for a week spent at the lake. His buddy’s uncle was wearing overalls all week and swore by them. When J returned home he couldn’t stop looking at overalls online. I was so confused – was he joking or being serious? I seriously couldn’t tell until a package arrived and he did indeed order a pair of overalls for himself. I couldn’t help but laugh! He hardly wears them, pulling them out for a few “special” occasions like big Auburn games or road trips. It’s definitely more of a joke than anything, but he made sure that I too had my very own pair of overalls!

That Christmas J gifted me these. (I got other presents too, don’t worry! 😉 ) They stayed in the back of my closet for a good while but turns out overalls are pretty darn comfortable… and dare I say, stylish!? I’ve noticed quite a few popping up in Spring arrivals online like these cherry blossom printed ones and these floral embroidered pair – how cute?! I love the bows instead of buckles! There are so many styles, cuts, colors so there’s definitely a pair out there for everyone! I have a feeling I’ll pull my overalls out more often than I thought… I’m even considering these shorts or dress styles to add to the collection!

Hello

engagement-session-97

It just dawned on me that since all of my previous posts were swiped (see post here) some of you might be wondering who I am!

I am a blogger, turned fiancée, turned wife, who needs to have some sort of creative project so I don’t go insane! Insert blog. Not sure exactly where I’m going to go with the blog this go ’round but it’s here so stick along for the ride!

I love cooking but thanks to the DC Metro traffic, J does most of the cooking in our house. (He’s the best!!) And we use Plated. We love Plated. Without Plated I would have never had this delicious meal (french onion soup burgers), or this one (tilapia confit & green beans) both household favorites!

If you clicked those links and got curious scrolling my Instagram feed, you probably noticed that I have quite a bit of cocktails on there. When J is cooking and I’m coming home late, it’s usually my job to either pour a glass of wine or mix up a cocktail. And yes, we have a favorite household cocktail too. It was the cocktail we served as our “signature cocktail” at our wedding because it is the cocktail that we whip up for parties and cozy nights in alike – aka actually our signature cocktail.

The Rosemary Maple Bourbon Sour
makes two cocktails

  • 3 shots bourbon
  • 1 & 1/2 shots fresh lemon juice
  • 3/4 shot dark amber maple syrup
  • 1 large sprig of rosemary (plus 2 small sprigs for garnish)
  1. Crush the large sprig of rosemary in your hand and add it to the shaker.
  2. Add the bourbon, lemon juice, maple syrup and ice to above the level of the liquid and shake vigorously for 15 seconds.
  3. Strain the mixture into rocks glasses containing large cubes of ice and garnish with remaining rosemary sprigs.

So here’s the deal. Whip up one of these yummy drinks, comment below and let me know what you want to see on this little ol blog of mine, and tell me something about yourself! xo
